Tilshead Borehole Levels: 17th January 2021

Hope you like the new-look Parish Council website.  This has been done to bring the site into compliance with the latest changes to the accessibility regulations.  It’s designed to be more accessible to those with visual impairments, etc.

A very interesting week on the Tilshead borehole front.  With relatively little rain for the last few weeks, the rate of refill has slowed almost to a stop over the last 7 days.

We shouldn’t get too complacent though, as the 7-year average water levels suggest we are likely to have more rain between now and the end of February when the temperatures start to rise and plants begin to prepare for Spring.  In that average flood season, we would anticipate the aquifer rising by a further 4-metres AOD, but we are already 5-metres AOD above the average.  I wouldn’t like to take bets on what will actually happen.

Today is likely to remain fine and dry with rain further to our West.  This wet weather is likely to arrive with us at some point on Monday and get steadily heavier during the day.  The rain is set to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, getting colder towards the end of the week and followed by more rainy spells towards the end of the month. At the moment, we are predicted to have above-average rainfall at the start of February, with snow confined to the Midlands and the North.
